Should have solid knowledge of the following: SNA: VTAM; network protocols TCP/IP and DNS/DHCP; IDS; VPN; Ethernet; Frame/Relay or MPLS; and understand the OSI model. Knowledge of Cisco Routers and Nortel Switches is a definite plus. Successful applicant will have demonstrated experience diagnosing and resolving network system problems. Candidate must also have excellent communication and project management skills as well as the ability to provide attention to detail. The ability to work well in a team environment is essential. Candidates with minimal SNA-VTAM experience but solid TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP, switch, and router experience will be considered if open to learning. | A New England end user has an immediate need for a VTAM-TCP/IP systems programmer to support a large, complex z/OS-based network. This person will be responsible for installation, maintenance, and support for all comm-related products. Qualified applicants will have strong communications systems programming skills as well as a solid network troubleshooting background. Expertise with installation and customization of network-related products such as NetView and Connect:Direct is a must. Experience with distributed networking and OSA configuration is a plus.
